Hypocritical bunch of prudes

I have no idea why politicians keep assuming that they have the right to decide what is 'right and wrong' for the general public.
In matters where they should really make that sort of decisions, ofcourse the chicken hearted bunch of cowards will hide.

The recent episode of banning AXN till march smacks of prudishness.
Considering that this is a program which is being aired at night, and contains less obvious sexually explict content than most bollywood movies (which btw are becoming more vulgar and crass) ofcourse has no bearing on the decision.

God knows when there will be any sort of transparency to this whole adhoc and at most times asinine decision making process. Though qualifying it as decision seems to indicate some sort of analysis of the rights & wrongs - I think whims will be a better word : morons.
If you dont like it, change the f*@king channel you a$$holes ! And if your kids are a bunch of corrput spoilt immoral brats : that reflects badly on your parenting - not necessarily on the content which comes way past their bedtime.
And please, dont tell me you are a better judge of what I can and cant watch.

In a related incident, the Indian Government went hyper and over sensitive against some video showing Gandhi doing a pole dance. It is high time people in power learned to be more mature and not be bothered by frivolous content like this. Censorship is NOT an option - especially in this age : and any outdated views that you can enforce it is only exposing your stupidity.

Not sure what is so offensive about it - I personally dont give a shit about the video, and if Gandhi was alive today, he would have had a nice laugh at it - but whatever be the case, unless something is done with the intent of inciting public unrest it is better for all concerned that Governments try not to be smartasses and weild their 'power'.
Disagreement with views MUST NOT lead to supression.

Instead of moving towards a more open, democratic, pluralistic society, both incidents indicate a less tolerant Government which is trying to move us backwards towards a more medieval world.
I seriously hope someone takes both actions to court and royally f*@ks them up - the Minister should be help personally responsible for the losses incurred by the channel and made to cough up from his purse : not that dishing out 100 odd crores will have much of an impact on the illgotten wealth amassed by those corrupt bastards.

Politicians - stupid f*@king prudish hypocritical pricks : the whole lot of them.

Two deep breaths, some cold water and nice game of CS is what the doctor prescribes.

I think we should mobilize crack teams in every city. Who at night somewhere around 8:30pm will project objectional material onto public buildings & monuments. Something like the laser shows at Pink Floyd concerts. Also footage from sting operations on corrupt officials that expose their true colours can be displayed for the viewing pleasure of all.

Media bombs can be planted at street corners, so when a pedestrian passes by he'd be assaulted by 'filth' that the govt. is trying hard to put down.

Of course this would amount to a lot of sound POLLUTION or audio terrorism (to use a buzz word) and the people & govt. will opt to have crap were it belongs - in the idiot box.

ya ya bugger :-)

@ moonjungle
heh, I am not 'for crap' - more for the fact that I would like to decide what is good for me and what is not, not some braindead power hungry greedy politician.

@ unawoken
well, it was totally pissing me off - sucessive governments thinking they can decide what the general public should/shouldnot see totally sucks : that too when they are not really doing a objective job of it.

Slippery slope. Who defines public unrest?

@ aaditya
true, that is slippery slope : but there are cases where national security or harmony in society is at grave risk.

@ ak

@ Aaditya & Mridul

I think a slippery pole is in order for Ghandhiji. Not a slope.
